Ilya Samutin, RMT

Ilya believes that we possess an incredible capacity for healing, adaptation, and resilience. This is a key concept that guides Ilya's practice as he works with each patient to address their specific concerns and develop a well-rounded treatment approach to help them reach their health goals.

Ilya graduated from the RMT program at Vancouver Career College in December 2016 but his passion for cultivating health and wellness extends much further back. Whether it was martial arts, resistance training, yoga, or rock climbing, Ilya has always been involved in some form of physical activity, which has given him a broad scope of understanding and appreciation for the body's capabilities, limitations, and - of course - injuries.

Drawing on this experience, combined with 3 years of practice as an RMT in both a clinical and spa setting, Ilya's treatments are a blend of therapeutic modalities and relaxation-focused massage. Techniques like myofascial and trigger point release, joint mobilizations and swedish massage commonly make their way into his treatments. However, Ilya recognizes that the progression toward wellness does not end when your appointment time is up! As such, he endeavors to educate and encourage his patients to take control of their health through self-care including movement, stretching, and exercise, as well as getting to the root of why people experience the pains and aches that they have.

Born in Russia but having spent most of his life in Vancouver, Ilya discovered Powell River only a few years ago along his travels throughout beautiful British Columbia. Being an avid outdoorsman and drawn to the breathtaking yet laid-back charm of the coast, Powell River is now a place Ilya is excited to call his home.
